Ingredients:
4 smokies sausages,
2 chicken breast halves,
1 large can diced tomatoes,
1 onion,
3 cups chicken stock,
1/4 cup lentils,
1/4 cup garbanzos,
1/4 cup okra(chopped coarse),
salt and pepper to taste.
Bring stock to a boil and add the lentils and garbanzos. Simmer for 1 hour.
Chop smokies and chicken breasts into bite size pieces. Add to broth.
Chop onion and add to broth mix. Add tomatoes and rest of ingredients. Put in a pinch of garlic powder and a pinch of white sugar.
You might have to add more stock or water to even out proportion as it cooks. Simmer for another 2 hours, or until garbanzos and lentils are tender. Check for taste as it cooks and add more salt, etc. to suit your taste.
Serve over chunks of french bread, baguette, or garlic/parsley croutons. You can add other spices as well if your taste desires-like parsley, basil, etc. If you like really hot foods, add some chili peppers or powder, or any kind of hot sauce.
I hope you all enjoy this. It’s great on cool autumn evenings.
